Help I have a 00TL.I had the transmission replaced two weeks ago,runs shifts great rides smooth.Today I started the car and tried to shift into park and it only went half way over.I turned the car off,then restarted it shifted fine.I put the car back in park then same problem.After inserting a screwdriver into the key looking opening beside the shifter in goes into gear fine.What could be the problem?I feel like I am stealing my own car.

 

Brake interlock switch. The switch enables the shifter to leave park when the brake is pressed.

Does your brake lights not work either? If not then sounds like you'll need a brake switch. Very simple to replace on the brake pedal
