Exclamation Car Temp Gauge Stays On Hot

I just bought a 99 Acura Tl an as soon as you turn the ignition switch the temp arrow shoots right up to the top. The guy I bought the car from said it was a Temp Sensor, has anyone here had this issue or know anything abiout it? Thanks..

Well it's not the engine overheating if it shoots up from a cold start.

Replacing the temp sensor shouldn't be that hard?

Dnload the service man. if you do not have it, then chk. the sensor. I would probably use an OEM replacement if it's bad. Also chk. the connector to it. I would get that fixed right away esp. w/ summer coming.

sounds like the power wire to sensor fell off, or its known bad/diagnosed and seller disclosed that to you

who knows the location of said part on a 99? thermostat area?
you can ask the local dealer parts guy- their system has diagrams and you can figure it out from there

Take off the engine cover and you will see it on the right (drivers) side. Take off the wire harness, unscrew it and replace.

Part cost me $16 in Atlanta 07/12
