Car Runs Hot When Ac Is On
I Have A Pptl And When I Have The Air On The Car Temp Runs Hot And Air Blows Hot When I Sit Idle Like In A Drive Thru Or Something. Then When I Resume Driving The Temp Goes Back To Normal Then If I Stop At A Light It Creeps Back To Hot Again. What Is It? Also How Can I Reset The Maint Req Sensor.
Does this only happen with the ac on?
If o there could be a few things going on as far as the temp climbing while stoped with the ac on. its something you may want to bring in to get serviced (ie. there are a few sensors that could be causing this, or the compressor. Does it blow cool air while moving?
as for the Maint required light its in your manual on how to reset it.
With the car off,Press and hold the Trip and Reset light with 1 hand, while holding them BOTH in turn your key to the RUN position (not start but run) and continue to hold them in till they turn off. It takes about 10 seconds.
If you turn the key and then press teh buttons in you will change the Outside Temp settings

RF -- search is your friend ... you can adjust the outside temp guage in the car by +/- 3C if you hold the buttons down when you turn the key to the 'II' position. I think that's how you do it ... (lazy) I've done it before ... but that was 3 yrs ago ...

as said above,,cooling fans
driver side running for several minutes after engine shutdown recently?
does driver side fan run at stoplight after sitting a few minutes?or not at all?
If either/both those you need a fan temp sensor A,,easy diy repladcement
if fans working right then we move to radiator cap holds pressure?
its rubber seal looks good- no cracks or deformed badly?
Parts store will test cap for free,,they are only10 bucks and good idea to replace on gp
Coolant condition- age? 5 years max!
Radiator condition inside,,clogging of openings?

in front of the engine radiator
So both fans run to help it compensate
test it with ac off--no issues? temp steady at 1 or 2 lines below half,,, like always?
if it gets above half shut off ac and turn heater to full hot,,that adds some cold coolant and drops temp
then turn heater off and leave ac off
do both fans spin freely when given a push with hand (engine cold for safety-fans temp operated)
fan sensor is number one problem. with your symptoms
fix it fast.. or bad things happen..dont let temp get to 3/4
