Car humming

I have a 2000TL with 105KM. I'm not exactly sure on how to describe this, but about few weeks back my whole car started making this weird humming sound. It feels like the car has this huge weight on it. I guess a better explanation would be if you are driving a manual car and you did not shift to the next gear after reaching a certain speed. This whole issue started when a friend of mine bored the car for a week and started to use a low grade gas. After doing some research on this site, I seafoamed the car but the issue is still happening. Any ideas has to why?????

Oh yeah, the car runs fine, I think the issue starts from shifting the 2nd to 3rd gear.

Could this be a sign that the transmission is about to go?

No it's the same through out. When I pull out of the driveway it's fine but as soon as the second gear hits, it starts, or 2000 RPM.

try this test
at light throttle cruising in D5 at 25 and 35 mph, stand on the gas and stay there.
It should downshift into 2nd and launch forward without hesitation
If it lags catching into gear- revs up and doesnt engage gear right away- thats a trans problem in the making- weak clutches- thats are usual failure point

It was able to catch without any problem. Would changing the trans fluid help?

"Huge weight on it"- sounded like calipers might have been dragging- what was the problem with the rotors?

Shouldnt be anything to do with the rotor, If anything it should be the caliper hanging up on the rotor.

Sorry that was a mistake. Actually it was one of the back bearings (not rotors). When I we took it apart the grease inside was so viscous that they could barely turn. I decided to replace both bearings and the breaks since I was already working on it.
