Can't Shift to Park

This morning, I drove to the work and when I tried to park the car, i couldn't shift the knob to the park!! Therefore, I couldn't take out the car key either cuz as you know you must park your car to pull out the key.
and finally, i just forced the shifter to the park and went to work and now.
I searched and I saw many threads about not getting out of park but mine is opposite. The knob is just not moving from R to P. Yes i did pressed the brake. Anyone knows why this happened?

I was going to say the brake switch, but realized you only need to depress the brakes going from P to R...

Have you tried the shift release next to the shifter? Maybe if you do it once, it'll go back to normal. Thats all I can think of...

Has it happened since? Have you ever spilled soda or something by the shifter?

Ok, moderator, you can close this thread. I took it apart and there was a nail-clipper stuck under the shifter. LOL anyway, problem solved. Thanks for the comments!!
