It doesn't matter if you live here or in the US, anyone with an affected VIN has the extended warranty to 7 years/160,000 KM...now 93 months (7 years and 9 months) / 175,000 KM according to the letters we got for our 2 TLs back in February of this year.

The transmission in my '02 was replaced last year but my mom's '00 is still going strong.

"Common signs of transmission failure are:
• An abnormally loud noise from the transmission.
• Extremely slow or delayed gear engagement, upshifts, or downshifts.
• Abnormal gear slippage during upshifts or downshifts. (Commonly between 2-3 and 3-4 shifts)
• Erratic or excessively harsh shifting.
• Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) leaks.
• While driving, the D5 indicator (possibly also TCS and check engine light) on the instrument panel flashes."

Fight with Honda Canada if they refuse to help. Tell them you are aware of the extended warranty and that it has been a commeon problem with our cars. A lot of members have suggested mentioning this site.

^ Did you attend a Canadian high school? Or do you live near the Jane/Finch area? I have no idea what you are talking about.

As others have already stated ... take your car to an Acura dealership to see if the transmission in failing. It's a well-known problem so your car tranny is still under warranty (provided your car has not exceeded 175 000km). Just because you have an 'updated' tranny does not mean it will not fail before the warranty extension.

I am looking to buying either a TL-S or CL-S and am wondering if I should only consider 6M. So if the warranty is over, the tranny can still be under warranty if it's in the range of affected VIN?
