Can $10 of Arco gas heavily damage a vehicle?

On Halloween night my tank was pretty close to empty, i only needed a little bit of gas so i put $10 of Arco premium into my 2003 TL. Drive about 15 miles. Next morning, the check engine (or error detected thing) comes on, my car starts shaking, but when the car warms up it dissapears. Comes back again the next morning, so I finally take it to an Acura dealership.

They told me every cylinder is firing off error codes in their diagnostic and they're recommending a tear down, which they estimate at $300-$400. I asked what are the possibilities? They said something about spark plugs and gas valves, but they claim they really have no idea what's wrong. One guy told me the gas in Arizona sucks and I should never use anything but Shell or Chevron which sounds sort of fishy to me.

I'm so confused right now... can anyone shed some light on what could possibly be happening here?

get some gumout regane complete fuel system cleaner and I bet your problem is solved. it sounds like really bad gas. the gumout and a fillup at a shell station should fix your problem. if it doesn't then either you had a pre-existing problem or there was some foreign substance in the gas which would be more of a longshot. i bet it's water in the gas that caused the problem and fuel system cleaner and a fillup will solve your issue. shell BTW I believe is the best gas IMO.

i works wonders.
my fiancee had the same issue after 15 min of driving the engine light went off and the car ran so smooth. she couldent start it would shake and feel like its going to die. and shutter when you applied the gas. it was like the stupid kid in a calc. class.

but ya BG 44k is awsome. highly recomended.

lol...your first problem was getting gas at Arco...they suck. So i heard their gas are watered down or something. I always get the gas from QT. Like the others say...use some fuel system cleaner, gumout or BG 44k. Good luck

Yup. Before spending the big $$$, I would suggest to get a good fuel system cleaner and try it out to see if that resolves your issue. I would also take of the plugs have a look at them. Sometime the plugs would tell you a lot of stories. If they are dirty, get them cleaned and put them back.

Just my $0.02

i used to pump 89 gas at arco all the time since it was really cheap. but i stopped after my friends telling me that their gas sucks thats why its cheap. so i always fill at 76 or any other stations besides Arco and gas has went down. and gas seemed to go down fast when i pumped arco. so word of advice.. no arco

the problem with arco is not it being watered down or shitty gas. (its monitored unannounced) its just they dont add anything to there gas.
Chevron with techron.
Shell is V-Power
76 is proclean
arco just doesnt add the cleaning additives that the others do.
and any gas station can get bad gas. it just happens.

$10 dollars of gas is not going to mess up your car unless it was bad gas.
i still dont recommend arco. never have even thought about adding it to my acura.

Get a fuel system cleaner in your tank. Fill it up with premium, and drive it a bit to see if it goes away.

Arco uses a detergent additive called Cleantech. I think the main reason they are cheaper then the big name chains is because they don't accept credit cards and charge a service charge for debit perchases.

cleantech must be new. i have never heard of it. and it is also probebly cheaper than the stuff that some of the better brands. and yes the credit card/debit thing is also in there never thought of that. i thought that they used them here in washington but i have only got gas there one time in my life and that was when i was 16 and i put it in my 75 monte carlo.

I'm pretty sure Chevron adds it to all grades.
For any particular station, it'll probably say on the pump.

its added to all grades the only big difference in the grades of gas is the octane itself.
the higher the octane the higher you can compress the mixture before it gets to hot and combusts to early causeing "knocking".

so yes the additives are added to all grades of gas. octane doesnt matter.
