Something is causing my compressor to go. First I was driving car with defrost on 2 years ago during the winter. The car cut off. Shop Diagnosis was that the compressor was, bad and needed to be replaced. Estimate was a grand for labor oem compressor.I didn't get work done, and many months later I ordered a tested used compressor from a salvage yard. I had it put on and unit recharged. It did not blow cold and a day after getting it installed, compressor started smoking. So months went back and now it's spring, and I had an aftermarket compressor put on. This shop said they thought the condenser was leaking. I picked up car and had someone else look at it. He suggested some blockage and replaced pressure switch. Still no cold air, and Honda shop says compressor is failing, and want to replace everything. Estimate now is 1400 to 1700. I don't want to spend that,curious for any suggestions.

 

I would take it to a dedicated A/C repair shop and at least have the problem diagnosed with an estimate. If you cant do the work yourself, you'll just have to take it to a shop or roll those windows down.
