A/C problems
Hello this is my first post on here..I've had my TL since late 2012 and loved it ever since. Here recently my A/C decided to stop blowing cold air and I have no idea why. I'm not gonna lie I don't know as much about my car (or cars in genereal) as I would. I know a little but as far as A/C goes I'm lost. I live in Oklahoma and the summers here are ridiculous. A couple of months back everytime I would use the A/C on 4 or 5 at 60° the car would get hot. I starter using it at 1-3 at 60° and the temp would climb but not as high and not nearly as fast. Eventually I just started driving with the windows down. A week ago I was with a friend of mine who was complaining about the air being cold (had it on 2 at 65°) and he wanted the heat on..Yea in Oklahoma in August. So we agreed to let sit at 80° at the same speed. This stayed for about 45 minutes or so and when I finally dropped him off I immediately switched to cold air again, but this time this faint whining noise was going on and the air didn't get cold. I stopped trying to get it work and just went with the windows down again. I've tried it about 3 times in the past week and the whining noise is gone but the air still doesn't get cold. I asked my grandpa who knows a little about cars-I wouldn't call him a mechanic or anything-for his opinion and suggested Frion. I haven't tried that just yet but I would like to get y'all opinion too since well, y'all have Acuras. Thanks.

Behind the engine on the passenger side you can see the heater valve inline with the heater hose attached to a cable, so watch if that moves as you change the temp, as it likes to stick.
Then if it still doesn't blow cold, run the built-in self-diagnostics on the climate control system to see if it shows any faults.

Floating around somewhere is a pdf of the service manual for the 99-03 TL, but it's very large, about 900Mb.
Did you run a search on the topic here on the forum?

start with a can of wd40 and the valve at firewall. That's the most common issue
What was getting hot with ac and fan speeds? engine temp was climbing or it stayed perfect just below half like always?
Cabin fan still works to push air at you?
The auto temp thing is a little stupid, setting it at 68 and leave it alone on auto
will keep the car nice and cool
There is a dead zone from 68-72 where not much change happens, need heat don't set it to 80, 76 will do fine
The higher or lower temp setting doesn't make it work harder or faster!!
its sort of a thermostat reading
Use fresh air to cool the car - with rear windows partially down for a few minutes to suck out hot air!! The go to recirc and the desired temp
