Buying a HID KIT, Need help!

Hi, I'm relatively new to this forum and to cars, not really a constant thread/topic poster, but I'm here a lot.

Now, here's my question:
I'm looking into buying a new HID kit because the guy who sold me the car did a BS job and gave me a purple bulb and a whiteish/blueish bulb that jumps from purple to blue from time to time.

So.. I went on ebay.. and i searched for some bulbs, but all i found was bulbs for 100 dollars+. Then.. I saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-C...spagenameZWDVW

As I stated I'm pretty new to these things and would like to know more.. and need help deciding whether this is correct for my 01 TL headlights or not. And if it isn't.. is it possible to not spend over 100 dollars for some bulbs that are 8k Temp++? If not then any suggestions on where to buy them(i don't mind used ones, just not if they will die out on me in a week or so)?

Thanks in advanced!

You don't need a kit, just new bulbs.

That link will take you to what we call the black market, where you can purchase and even sell things here. I have a pair of 5000k (which indicates color) bulbs and like the output very well. I have posted plenty of pics, even on that thread. I would advise you purchasing that color. You may go up in the color by getting higher numbers on color temp, but as you do so, you will begin to lose light output and increase strain on your eyes. Have fun

What year TL do you have? Did the guy who sold you the car take the H.I.D.'s out? If he did make sure it has the ballast's, there should be two of them, one for each light. If they're still on the car and you just have two different kelvin(color) bulbs you can just buy some replacement bulbs that are the same color. Like Bibledriver said, the higher kelvin rating you go the less light output you will have. I personally wouldn't go higher then 5000k, I like the OEM bulbs, I think they are 4800k, someone correct me if wrong. You can see the road a lot clearer with OEM's, the color is bright white with a little bit of blue and the 5000k's will have more of a blueish color.

^ agree. Dont go higher than 5k. The higher you go doesnt mean the brighter it will be. (stock is 4300)

Okay, I'll be sure to check that out. Thanks a lot guys i knew I can depend on you guys.

Side Note: When I turn on the Lights, they both start at a whitish bluish color, then one of them starts to slowly get to a purple color. Can someone also tell me why its doing that(Don't wana buy the bulb and realize i need a whole new kit)?

That usually means that bulb is going bad and needs to be replaced. Just replace both of the bulbs and you will be fine.
