Thumbs up broken motor mount NEED ADVICE

Dealership says I got a right side broken motor mount. When I put the car in drive or reverse you can feel the engine buckle down at times. How does a mechanic fix this? Is it hard to fix? What is a ball park price for a mechanic to fix it?

Thanks in advance

Its not a fix. You have to replace it. Do a search on motor mounts. There's a DIY out there. It's not that hard to replace.

It's less than an hour to do, so shops will charge you an hour + parts.

I'd start by checking prices from like ..
http://acurapartsplace.com/
http://www.prestigeacura.com/estore_parts.htm

the side motor mount is the cheap one, not to mention easiest one, to replace, if i'm not mistaken.

Agree. Buy them from one of these sites.

Also you may want to replace the front mount while your at it. Odds are it is shot as well. Especially if its original. These mounts are known for not lasting more than 40k miles.

Changing them yourself isnt hard and can save you money.

You could also do the DIY poly fill. This side mount is pretty easy to do.

It’s entirely possible you need a mount replaced. My mom’s 02 TL needed the front one replaced while the tranny was being fixed. During the winter the engine sounded like it had leaves in the belts or something.. awful. Even during the summer it didn’t sound great at idle but much quieter. I thought it needed a valve adjustment but turns out the mount was the issue. There was never any vibration though.. not sure how much the dealer charged for it sorry.

I just got a $714 quote to replace 2 motor mounts. Front and Side.
I will not pay that price. It is rediculous.

714 I would have asked he was high.

Get the mounts from a place like this
http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...catdisplay.jsp

And find a independent shop and have them install them. Its a 1 to 1.5 hr job hr job

Do it yourself. Hour and 1/2 job at best. $160.00 for parts = order them online and get the 25% discount as I did. Wow thats like 300-550 for labor for an hour and 1/2 job.
