Brake lights don't work when braking & can't shift out of park

hey everyone,
I've been searching the forums and couldn't really find a definitive answer on how to fix this problem. I have a 2002 acura tl-s and I am unable to shift out of park unless i manually do it. Also when i brake the brake lights don't turn on. The only thing i can find is to change out the brake switch and see if that works. Do any of you guys have any other fixes for this that I wasn't able to find on acurazine? Thanks in advance.

Its the brake switch indeed. had this problem in my integra but it was a 5spd so I could still shift. The plastic clip that connected the switch to the pedal broke on mine. Took it to a shop and they reconnected it with a bolt at no charge.

the shift interlock is to prevent you from driving with no brake lights!
