Brake Lamp Light

My brake lamp light comes on occasionally and i have cehcked but the brake lights are functioning? If this what this indicator is suppose to tell me? Excuse my ignorace.

Have you checked the reservoir? if one of the lower brake lights are out then the "brake lamp" light will illuminate but if the "brake" light is on then it may be low on fluid

Problem solved - it was a light out, my friend checked it for me and didnt notice the first time around. Thanks for the advice.
