brake hum

When I'm stopped with the brakes on I get a humming sound. If the car is in park and you step on the brakes, no noise. I took the car to the shop and let them take a look and they think its 1 of the belts. Any one have this problem?

when in park vs D5 there are different loads on the engine, the rpm, and the accessory belt-AC belt if ac/defrost is on or off

sometimes its belt tensioner likes to fail as well- makes a weird noise for a while - then worse- then- better get this fixed right away!!

diagnosis should have said which belt,,if its the AC (air con) belt- get the tensioner unit with it --it the belt wore out- something is up
mine made noise from 45kmiles and finally went at 80, new belt at 60 by tech unaware of the noise and didnt bother to listen to tensioner before replacing belts
(customer was trying to fix noise and sell car, replaced belts but still there= tensioner)

In other words, the brakes aren't humming...it's something else. The brakes don't put a load on the engine, except for maybe vacuum assist?

very good point total'd--tires can come apart at any age or after any pothole!!

since OP was referencing brake noise--my mind got stuck on type of noises from there
ie: bearings in rear being a well known prob for us,
and some have prob with front wheel bearings

have any new noise inspected by a pro, if you are not a skilled tech yourself
Noises can lead to crashes in short order!!
