Bose Stereo Loses Settings

I have a problem with my Bose Stereo on my 2002 Acura TL that began last winter (second gen.). During the cold weather, the radio went dead and would not come on at all. But when it warmed up a little, it might come back on intermittently but all the settings would be lost and I would have to put in the security code to get it to work.

Now that the weather is warm, it works fairly consistently except if I haven't been driving the car for a few days, the presets would again be lost and I have to enter the security code back again.

The battery is only a year old and the car cranks up the way it should, so I don't think it's that.

I think it has to be the radio that is bad. Maybe a capacitor inside the radio might be bad? Has anybody dealt with this before?

It sounds to me like you're on the right track thinking it's a bad capacitor or battery inside the radio.

Check the power on your constant. I am pretty sure that is your problem.

I doubt there is a fuse inside the radio, but I am not talking from experience. Just the fact that the radio is not stepping down or up power, its all 12v

If was a fuse or cap it would not turn on/off when hot/cold. My guess is that you have a break in the constant wire somewhere and it is getting wet when summer ends. Again, I have no fucking clue what I am talking about.

Thanks for your replies.

Wildfire may be on to something concerning the constant and the wetness, but I won't know until I open it up and I don't want to do that until I have a solution. I bought a cheap radio on eBay for $45 and will test the constant when I open everything up.

If anybody is interested, here is what I bought.

It seemed to get decent reviews for what it is, a cheap Chinese radio. The car is going on 15 years now (I've had it all 15) so I don't think spending a lot of money on a car stereo is a good investment!!!

For anybody who is interested in this topic, my cheap $45 radio came in the mail yesterday. I plugged it in and it fired right up.

Thanks for everybody's input.
