Hey guys. i popped the hood after starting to accelerate after a light and i found that the belt on the lower left side shred. about 4" went off and is still attached. the belt has around half an inch of belt there. can i drive it two miles to my mechanic safely? what belt is this? help. the car is a '99 tl 3.2l

 

id say yes but go slowly

 

It's the alternator belt. I gotta take it to pepboys, will cost me $80. I gotta drive for like 30min locally to get there or like 10 on the highway, but i ain't going on the grand central or the lie, that belt will rip right off.

 

Dont run any electrical like lights or radio- let the battery just run the car in case belt destructs on the way to the store

 

Inspect the belt carefullly to see if it is any good do drive any further. If that belt broke and got tangled with other belts, you would have more problems.
