Ballasts ballasts ballasts

I am onto my 3rd ballast. Im done dropping money on our OEM ballasts. So, here is my question.. What do you guys recommend for alternatives? im not afraid to spend money here.. and i want quality. i was reading in that our older ballast models are ofcourse 10 years old and get condensation in them. i also wash my car around twice a week, so i think thats playing a role.

Really?? I'm still on both my original ballasts since I rolled the car from the dealership back in 2002...

Dunno about that link.. Usually Philips Ballasts goes alone x1 for around 300 bucks... 216 for the kit sound awfully low and suspicious..

Im serious man, its always the driver side headlight.. i have no condensation in my lights at all. so here is the thing.. my ballast went out on my last summer, i went and bought a used one an a tl that was totaled, installed and it worked. for some reason i kept the junk ballast. my light when out again about a week ago, i installed the old one just for kicks and it worked. i was shocked but happy at the same time haha, and now its out again.

May be a problem with the wiring connector or a poor ground ?
Is there any signs of corrosion or moisture ??? Have ya tried switching HID components from one side to the other yet ?

no i have not, i checked the fuse tho, that was fine, my guess is moisture bc i clean my car a lot. i do not have moisture in my headlights. its always after i get a car wash also, my other one stopped working after the car wash and now this one.. so my guess is that it is moisture.. i havent switched components but like i said i switched ballasts and it started working about 2 weeks ago.. so im almost positive its a ballast issue.

OEM ballast on my wife's 2G and all is well from what I've seen. If you decide to go aftermarket, I highly recommend http://www.ddmtuning.com/

I set have a 35W HID kit (bulb, ballast, and necessary wiring) with 4500K bulbs in my RSX for over 2 years with no issues whatsoever for less than $75 shipped.

Yeah, as Nats007 said.....the best and most cost effective solution is to simply replace the old HID setup with the newer aftermarket kits.
Check the "DIY" sticky for installation tips.

sweet thanks for the recommendation.. I will be doing this it looks like, I might go 55w instead of 35w, maybe a little brighter. with the options that it comes with, I obviously will want to get the hid harness and adapter for it. But im not too sure what an error eliminator is?

our sponsor www.hidextra.com will hook you up with a set of 2 new ballast, 2 new bulbs (get 5000k) and the connectror wire for $50 USD! (with coupon) use code newfb for that!
many of us are running their system

dont use 55watt as our housing isnt made for the power/glare
convert stock fogs to hid if you need more light

35watt and 5000k color bulb (stock was 4300)
dont need any other parts except a connector from parts store

Does the hidextra low beam kit wire right in, or do you need other parts or have to make other modifications?

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is splice the positive/negative wires from the car and from the ballast and wire them together. That's what I had to do with my Morimoto kit
