Autolite Platinum battery

I have 2003 TL at 120K owned for last 3 years. No issues. Today I ran into clicking noise and no start. I had to jump start and then with other car battery connected, started in first crank.

Drove for over 100 miles without stopping and then parked for half an hour. When cranked again, first time again clicking noise and no start. Shut off and second time started fine.

Battery voltage checks 12.5. Battery is Autolite Platinum- Cold crank rating 770. It appears about 4 years old from date of manufacture. It does not have battery eye indicator.

Anybody has experience with this make battery? I never heard of.

Since I expect 100% reliability from my Acura, I am taking for battery test tomorrow and if in doubt, replace the battery.

Autolite is owned by Honeywell who also makes Fram (oil filters) and Prestone (antifreeze). Its your standard mass produced product.

Go to Autozone or other local parts store and have your electrical system tested. They usually do it for free.

4 yrs.- not bad. Probably failed battery.

Make certain all connections are clean & tight when you're finished.

May as well not waste time taking it to Acura. Just buy a battery and see if it cranks, if it's not the battery you're going to need a new one soon anyway. After the 3 year mark you can expect the battery to die at any time.

get the alternator tested too,,battery death can take down the alt as it tries to run the car by itself

4 years is awesome battery life!
ck cables and ground cables from frame to engine,,they are getting old and rusted or crusted, which takes away abilty to function as designed

I went to Batteries Plus, excellent service- and they had a blem in the correct size-
an edge tab not used in the TL holdown setup was broken , got it for 45 instead of 89!

Just about all standard wet cell type batteries are made by just 2 or 3 companies now days, Johnson Controls being the main one. They are all now equally sh_tty.
