Armrest trim pulling away from electric window panel on all 4 doors
Armrest trim pulling away from electric window panel on all 4 doors
Anyone ever fixed this? On all 4 doors, where the electric window control panel is on the armrest, the trim is pulling away where it fits under the panel. I'm looking to fix this myself.
Thanks!
Thanks!
My '91 Legend had this problem so did a '96 Jeep and so did a '02 TL.
Its due to material reacting with heat.
I was in AZ at the time w first 2 cars and in TX with last.
I sold the '91 Legend as was and before it got real bad.
The '96 Jeep was done with new mateials via Jeep Recall.
The '02 TL was done with Bondo and a correct sized broom stick to push back to door while drying.

So Bondo is the right adhesive to affix the thin lip of the soft leather/vinyl material back under the plastic panel on the armrest?
Thanks.
I read a DIY somewhere where they used Gorilla glue that was a foam along with the correct size broom handle to go from one armrest to the other and hold the affected one in place while drying.
Havent tried it myself yet (one of the armrests in our TL is separating) but I imagine any decent glue would work. If you really wanted to get specific, 3M makes a trim glue that is made for something like this. Local auto stores might carry it.

I had the same issue on my 4 doors, all i did was simply use super glue on the lip of the trim and then pressed it back in by hand and held it firmly in place for 15min. It's been 2 years now and it hasnt come off total repair cost me 4$. lol
I remember someone used glue and a shower rod. Two squares of plywood to distribute the spring tension evenly between the armrests. Simply close the door and there's enough pressure to set the glue.
