Argh Why Oh Why
Argh Why Oh Why
I go to get in my 2002 TL today... it's not hot outside but it's a nice day so I figure I'll leave the A/C off and roll down the windows. I start the car, hit the window buttons... nothing happens. I hit the sunroof button... nothing happens. I figure maybe it blew a fuse, so I swapped out fuses with power seats (same amperage), power seats still work but windows still don't. Replace window fuse all together, still don't work. Notice now that the passenger side windows will work with their independent switches, but not from the main switches. The driver's side ones won't work period. The LEDs are out on the driver's front and rear window switches and ALL windows on the main switch. LEDs are on for the passenger windows.
Bose headunit then asks for code.
WTF?!

Here is what i would suggest.. trouble shoot the issue like it was just one thing and the fix may fix all.
Pull the driver side door panels and use a VOM to see if you are getting power to the switches, if not then check power to the fuse. if no power is there then you need to just trace back and find where it stops....
Sounds like it could be a chore to find but it isnt that technically difficult.
Good luck and tell us what you find.

I have a really simple solution. Drop it off in 10 hours, drive away in a TSX, get a call when it's repaired.
Warranty!
I'm just wondering what could cause this ahead of time so they don't try BSing me.

Yes it is. I've checked the fuses and they're all fine. The passenger power windows work ONLY with their respective switches. The main ones and rear driver's door one will not function at all. The sunroof also doesn't function.
The CEL flashes when the ignition is in the on position to let me know readiness codes are not stored, as well.

It is really not that surprising to me.... if there is a short in the wire or it has been cut or a connection has come loose in the path of the windows, and from the sounds of it both drivers side windows operate on the same power supply path. Thats why i suggested the steps i did above.... so you can see where the system is breaking down.
Maybe. but the fact of the matter is that you just need to break it down to the simplest element. If the battery has power, which it does, and you can get that power to the motor in the windows, they should do something. If the power gets there and they do nothing the motor is bad, but since you have several issues at once i seriously doubt that is the problem.
Don't concern yourself with the sunroof or the back window or anything else... troubleshoot the issue like it is just the one window and when you find the fix , hopefully it will fix everything.
To troubleshoot the one window... you basically only need 2 things to make the window go up and down, power and a working motor. You dont have one of them and i am pretty sure 3 motors didnt all shit the bed at the same time so it is obviously the power you are missing.
Troubleshoot the power to the drivers side window.... like i said, test if the switch is getting power and go from there.
