Is the tranny in the first gen CL 3.0 the same as the tranny in the 99 TL and would it be a proper replacement.

both are 4 speed?

 

The 3.0 in the CL is closer to the 98-02 Honda Accord 3.0 V6 B7XA, the 99 TL is has 3.2 engine with the B7VA transmission has different stall converter and gear ratios, it might bolt up but you will have gear ratio error code and it might not even shift.
