Another Tranny Question..

Ok, here is my story… I was sitting in traffic at a light when I noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of my car. I pulled over to a gas station to take a look see. I opened the hood and smelt something burning but I couldn’t see anything wrong. I went and got the codes ran and the code that came up was p0740 (Torque Converter Clutch, Solenoid Circuit Malfunction/Open). My question is does the entire transmission need to be replaced or can I replace just the solenoid? I don’t have any slippage or hard shifts with the transmission… Thanks for your help!

The trans shouldnt smoke. You need to see what caused that. As for your code. Usually when that code appears the trans needs to be replaced.
