Sorry for asking about this common problem (and topic) again but I thought I'd give it a try. I have a 1999 3.2TL with approx. 202,000 miles. Runs & looks great - well maintained but it's been throwing the P0401 code for a while after I had the EGR valve replaced & port cleaned 2 years ago. Also this car had the EGR port cleaned & the pipe kit installed by the dealer under warranty back in 2003. Is it common for the valve or port to become clogged again after being replaced & cleaned just 2 years ago? Could the pipe kit that was installed in 2003 be clogged?

Also does the check engine light have anything to do with the TCS light going on? Ever since it went on, the TCS light will go on intermittently while driving. Doesn't seem to affect braking, though. Just wondering.

As always, thanks for the info. Thanks to this site I can drop the front bumper in less than 5 minutes & do a headlight bulb/ballast replacement in no time.

What about the pipe kit that was installed? Would this need cleaning out or just the valve & port?

I would take off the IM and clean it as well. You can check the valve and we if maybe it's just stick open from a piece of carbon and THEN do the insert. Thanks

Intake manifold. The sleeve is installed under it. But remove the valve itself and inspect first. You may not need to
