Alternator removal

My car will not start, initially there was a clicking noise I was able to start the car, went to a gas station for gas, shut off the engine and required a hot shot to get started then headed home.

The car has been sitting outside for 2 days, I removed the battery to have it checked, its good. Now when I attempt to start the engine there is no noise but the dashboard lights come on.

It maybe the brushes or the alternator and I need to know how to remove it without causing damage, and a diagram of the procedure.

What's a 'hot shot'- jump start?

Are the cables & connections clean & tight, both ends? If the battery is good and has been charged it should start the car regardless of the alternator's condition. You can get the alternator and battery tested at Autozone for free.

Same exact thing happened to me a few months back.
I removed the starter first (since easier to remove compared to the alternator)for testing and there it was.
It was faulty.
Purchased & installed a reman for $80.....all is well now.
