Air in coolant system??
Air in coolant system??
I have an 02 TL and I recently changed the coolant. I now seem to have air in the system and the temp gauge stays below the C, almost on the peg. I have tried to 'massage' the radiator hoses and did seem to get some air out. When it is idling in the garage (heater on 90deg and full fan) the gauge will get to normal then when I drive it, it drops down to the peg again. And when I get back home the top of the radiator is not even warm. It has plenty of coolant. It's getting cold here in the Indy area and my wife expects a car with a heater!! I'm stumped. Thank you.
have you `burped it` by running with rad cap off- heater on hot
with some 2000rpm runs until `driver side cooling fan` cycles-
and at idle until fan cycles two times running then off
that should push out any air
there is a specific procedure with idle and higher rpm holds for x time
if you search
on rad- upper and lower hoses should be near same temp with lower being cooler after short drive
rad not getting temp at top points to thermostat not opening.. and allowing block to empty hot water into rad
Make sure hoses cant squeeze closed--no softness to them
If thats not happening and low temp at top hose--the thermstat is likely sticking
you may have a guage problem too, as the TL always runs 1-2 lines below half.
a strange needle change like that is a short in wiring--maybe knocked a temp sendor loose working on coolant change?
Was it acting strange before the coolant change?
Ck rad cap seal = parts store can pressure test for free if no visable cracks or tears in rubber seal

it is, but I didnt figure the OP to have a copy or this thread wouldnt exist~
should still be able to get one online free when joining acura owners

or search for post by me and coolant procedure-- I copied the 01 instructions at one point
