Maybe you have some trapped air in the system. Try bleeding it per the procedure & see if it cures it. Never known a water pump to screech. Been my exp. that they will start to leak a small amount, then gradually worsen maybe with bearing failure type of noise.

Anybody else? Air in the system, fan temp sensor, thermostat?

 

Burping- I suppose. I understand there's a procedure for doing this that's particular to this car so research it further.

 

yeah from what I gather it involves holding the engine at a certain RPM for a certain time and . . i dunno.

I attempted burping the system this evening. Jacked up the front end, took off the cap, heater on hot high, turned on the car . . . .massaged the top rubber hose . . . seemed to work, but then the problem happened again tonight.

I have the mechanics' manual(s) so I'll look around in that to see if I can get more detailed instructions than I've found on here. I hope it's something as simple as an air pocket.

What the the symptoms of a bad water pump????
