Ac popping noise
Sometimes when I turn the car on there will be this popping noise coming from the ac vents and all I would have to do is turn the ac off and back on and it will stop. But now it continues to make that popping noise. Now it will randomly start popping while I am driving sometimes it pops louder and faster then usual and sometimes i can feel it pop in the gas pedal. The ac works fine I just have to deal with the annoying popping. If anyone has had this problem let me know what it is, if this is an easy fix, and how much it will cost. Any feedback appreciated thank you.

Sorry to bring this back but I am having the same problem. My A/C makes a popping noise. It feels like the compressor is turning on and off with every pop and it pops like every second. But it only happens on really hot days (when it goes past 90 degrees literally). I know its my A/C because once I turn it off, the popping stops. I also hear a whining noise at low revs (cruising at low speeds) and it also stops when I turn off my A/C. I thought it was my freon but I got it checked out and the mechanic said the level was perfect. My A/C is also ice cold. Around 45 degrees. What could it be!?!?

how did he ck the freon- with a guage?
a temp probe in the dash vents should show cabin temp about 40 F below outside air temp
to a low of about 40 - depending on your air temp --not applicable when testing at 100~
watch the compressor with engine running at idle- ac on cold
does it actually cycle on an off every few seconds?
most often thats freon low but can be other issues in the system
ck the drain line on pass side footwell

I didn't even see him check the freon but he said it was at a good level.
It was 87 degrees out and my A/C was at 45 degrees.
My compressor was cycling on and off every few minutes. It would stay on for a long time. Then shut off for like a minute or two and then turn back on.
He was checking some tubes near the compressor and everything seemed fine.
But today it wasn't popping cause it didn't hit 90 degrees so my A/C was perfect. I have to wait til it gets to 90 degrees for it to pop and then bring it back to him.

its rare for a shop to turn away income--sure it needs a top off Sir!!
especially when customer complaint of popping and affecting the car running~
either not a real ac guy- there are fillers,,,and then diagnosers-bigggg differance in skill level--
or the shop was busy and ac was cold, or it was too hot outside to get good reading, and nearly impossible to get freon into the system even if you wanted too
