have an 03 tl-s and was wondering why when i have the heat on i think i hear the compressor kicking on? maybe im just nuts but im curious...thanx for the input

If you are using "Auto", it is using the compressor to regulate the climate control system, so yes, you are right.
I only use Auto in the summer when it's hot. Every little bit of gas savings helps, especially since we require premium fuel. Most of the time, I use the fan and I adjust the temp control manually to avoid the A/C compressor coming on. It's not as accurate, but gets the job done. Also, when you hit the defroster button, I believe the AC kicks on as well to remove moisture and that gets rid of fogging on the windows.
