99 TL starting issues?

I have a 99 TL, and for the past month or more I have trouble starting the car. I have to make several attempts to start it before it runs. When turning the key, it turns over, but as stated, takes several attempts before it actually stays running. I also noticed that when turning the key to the "on" position, I dont always get my dash lights to come on unless I wiggle the key toward the start position. (dash lights:indicators for brakes, engine, etc.). Now, while driving, the car has just died on me on a few different ocassions. I checked with the dealer about a recall, and I guess the ignition switch had been replaced already before I bought the car. Could this switch be bad again? Thanks.

It sounds like the ignition switch.

As noted by Rajca, the replacement ignition switches can and do fail.

My 1999 TL is on its third ignition switch.

Here's a link to an excellent ignition switch replacement DIY thread posted by forum member 6MTUA5:

The part itself is about $100.
