99 tl not starting

I just replaced the ignition switch yesterday. When I start my tl is doesn't start I continue trying until it starts. While doing this I smell gas... Could it be my fuel pump that needs to be replaced? My car has never shut off while driving it. I have only had the car for 5 days also it has a new rebuilt transmission

if you smell fuel its not your fuel pump. While starting the car do you see a green key symbol flashing in the inst cluster

More info would help !

Was it doing this before replacing the ignition switch ?
But, it does eventually start....? Normal cranking ?
Any CEL light ? Have you visually checked for a possible fuel leak ?
Are you pushing or pumping the gas pedal ? If so, don't.
How are the plugs ?

Yes I see a green key symbol. I had a tune up done to my car. I replaced my spark plugs & air filter. Speedee told me the codes for a a new cat & p1456 came on. I replaced the cat and now I still have the p1456 code. I believe i might a have a leak somewhere. I just took my car today to a local acura&honda mechanic shop. Im currently waiting to hear whats going on with my car.

Yes it was doing this before replacing the ignition switch and it does eventually start with normal cranking. Once I get it to start i smell gas. Yes the CEL is on. I didnt see any visual leak. I just changed the plugs.

The local shop probably will check the electrical starting system along with the fuel pressure. The P1456 code indicates a problem in the EVAP system, could be a component failing such as a valve, solenoid or a vacuum leak somewhere.

Post back when they come up with the diagnostic findings.

Being a specialized Honda/Acura shop......one could only assume that they are skilled in what they do.
So, did they replace the part ? ......and is all well now ?

Also my gas cap needed to be replaced that's why I'm able to smell gas I paid $300 to have my 02 sensor replaced along with a new gas cap the shop had to Order the two parts I'm having them put on today I really wish I could learn how to replace on my own sensor since it would be way cheaper to do

Well, with a few basic tools and some general mechanical aptitude.......all things are possible with the help of others who have experienced similar issues with their TL's. Read and learn, if unsure ...just ask !

Unplug sensor, take wrench and loosen and remove. Reverse for install

Though i mus say im not quite sure why the car wouldnt start with those as the issue

Gotta say...I agree with Fsttyms1 on your original "no start" problems.

Could be they found something simple and just needed to justify the $300 repair bill. You could ask to have the old original parts back for one thing and then make sure that you get a detailed receipt of the service rendered.

The parts couldn't been much more than $100, leaving $200 for less than 1/2 hour labor time to install them. Hope it all works out ok for ya !!!!!

I'm with fsttyms and 3.2tlc. I seriously doubt that an o2 sensor could cause a no start.

Hey PagneKilla, apparently you're still having issues with starting.

Is your CEL light on ? If so, have the codes read at most any auto parts store for free. Then post the codes on here, so we can help ya better.
So, what all have ya tried recently ? If ya paid a Honda/Acura shop to diagnose your car, they should stand behind their work....IMO.
Have the EGR passageways and TB intake been cleaned ? Check for a vac leak.

Hello my CEL isn't on. awhile back I was told by speedee that CEL bulb needs to be replaced. So I don't know its on or off. When I took my car to the shop for this problem all I was told was my 02 sensor was broke. I haven't had the EGR or TB in take cleaned. How do I check for a vac leak?

You can still have the codes read even if the bulb for the CEL is bad.
Vac leaks usually are found around the various hoses and connections near the TB intake, PCV valve, EVAP system or motor mounts.
