99 TL fails to start initially

My 99 TL 3.2 is not starting immediately upon turning the ignition key. This problem started only recently [during the warmer weather 68 -90 deg F] It starts after I give it more gas by pressing the gas pedal while starting. It does not hesitate while driving but it feels like I need to keep a constantly high pressure on the gas pedal. I also have another problem which may or may not be related, while it changes to (maybe) 2nd gear it seems to loose a lot of power. Please let me know what might be wrong as I already spent considerable money on buying it (used) and fixing some other issues. On top of that I have to put premium gas!, I might be getting a mileage of about 17-19 mpg.

You are posting this in the wrong area of the forum. But one thing for sure, if it doesn't have a carburetor and you gotta give it gas to start something is wrong!

The only thing carburated I ever had was my Old Kawasaki Ninja ZX-600R 2001 with 4 Keihin Carbs! Even then it Started at the First Crank.

You're a lucky man! In my younger years I didnt have a single car that cost over 1000 dollars lol. I'm sure you can imagine. 77 Cutlass. 74 Nova. 84, 86 cavaliers. 88 camaro... Lol I've had a ton of cars and as bad as some of them were, I never failed emissions testing as was never broke down on the side of the road once although the cutlass blew a brake line close to home (scary) and had to get parked and scrapped.

I know this is the wrong forum (can mods transfer this?) but I'm having the EXACT same problem. Took it to Acura dealer and they said possible ignition issue? There was a recall on these that might still be under warranty. Anyone else having this issue?
