40 MPH? Scratching Sound

Hello Fellow Acura Owners,

I recently noticed that my 2003 TL has been making a very strange noise near the hood.

This probably happens 3, 4 times out of 10. When the car hits about 40 mph, it makes some scratching sound. Therefore, I feel forced to accelerate a little more to avoid cruising at 40 or around.

This noise is making me nervous. Please let me know what this might be!!

Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Pittletsgopitt3 !

So, at 40 mph......the kitty is trying to get out of your car ?
But seriously, is the "scratching noise" that you're hearing actually coming from the motor area or perhaps a wheel or the suspension ?

Try lifting the hood and listen closely for any strange noises as the motor's rpm is gradually brought up to 2,3,4-5k "while in park". If it's the belts or something loose on the motor, the noise should re-appear by doing this.

If you can't replicate the noise, check the brakes and wheel bearings.
