3G engine in 2G

Question for the experts:

I have a wrecked 06 TL (auto) and a 03 TL-S (auto) with a failing engine (250K mi). I'm looking to put the engine and transmission (or just engine) from the 06 into the 03.
My question is: What, if anything, needs to be modified to drop the engine/transmission from the 06 into the 03?

I understand there might be better solutions, but this is what I have, and I want to see if it will work before I move to more expensive solutions.

Thanks.

I'm about 90% sure the J32A3 is not a plug in replacement for the J32A2 in your 2003; it is my understanding the exhaust, the wiring, and the engine control are all different. Trying to fit the J32A3 into your car may be the most expensive option out there.

The 3rd Gen has single exhaust ports Vs our multiport and has 2 primary O2 sensors plus another downstream, it's also drive by wire whereas ours is drive by cable. My guess is the whole engine, trans, most wiring and ecu, exhaust. I'm not sure if the motor mounts will bolt up either. Also I believe the 06 auto also had trans issues.

On the flip side, the best and easiest option would be a J35A3 with the AV6 accord trans. More power plus reliability.

Kool. Thanks for the info.

Do you know if the J35A3 (or any J35) will work with the existing transmission? I just had it rebuilt about 15K ago, so if it can be reused, then that would be preferable.

J35A3 will bolt right up. Anything after the J35A4 will not.

Thanks.

From what I heard, I would need to remove an intake spacer to be able to close the hood. Is this true of the J35A3 in the 2Gs?

Yes. That's like a 5 minute thing though.
