Unhappy 2K3 TL/S need help

Hello all,

2003 TL/S with 81K miles and engine having problem,
The whole front end shake violently after I drove it on the freeway for approximate 50 miles and it graduately go away, everything seem to be normal, I definite hear some loud noise under the hood. At stand still (park) there is no noise?
I have read the forum and could not find the solution for it.

When this happened the CEL throw a code of P1399, with multiple cylinder mis fire 4,5,6. I have removed the intake manifold and decarbon the whole thing with no help, replaced all 6 OEM NGK spark plug. I also perform the coil pack troubleshooting and still no avail. The idle is very smooth according SM (750 RPM +/- 50).

Also check and verified front bearing and CV joint, tire are good and wheel alignment is right on

I am at the end my wit. Please advice

Check all the suspension and steering joints first. Then look at the brakes to be sure
The misfire code can be a coil pack. Troubleshooting them requires you buy 1 and try it on each cylinder till you find the 1 that was really the failed part.
Normally not 3 go at once- its a code - not actual diagnosis

checking the CV requires the car on a lift or jacks with the wheels turning to listen for noises and bearing failure with a stethascope
Is there transmission fluid showing on the stick- after the car is driven till warm- 15 miles- shut off the engine and check trans fluid.

Register car by VIN number at www.acura.com
owner link
see if you are covered by the extended trans warranty 109/7years
you may have felt one of the weird things they do when failing
if so- take it to dealer

01tl4tl,

Thanks you very much for your quick reply, I have checked the suspension system and they are very solid, no torn in lower ball joint, steering gear box have no leak, and in fact I did replaced the rotor with Brembo brand and replaced both of the brake caliper with OEM remanufactued part....

I noticed there is a evident of transmision oil leak under body, (red fluid).
and it shift harsh from 1st to 2nd during the beginning of the day, however, tranny shift smooth after engine completely warn up.

FYI, i have tranny replaced at 22.8k back in July 2004. The other day when i drain and refill, noticed a lot of sludge and metalic shaving on the magnetic plug.

Regards

Well if you are covered by the extended warranty on the trans- you need a new one fast!
And that odd fluid may be trans or front motor mount- your year may not have the liquid filled mounts- so dont quote me on that

Did you register at www.acura.com to find out for sure on the coverage
Many of us in the 99-early 03 TL have a 109,000 mile 7 years special extended warranty provided by the court system
Acura gives you a new one if yours fails

It is normal for slight harder shift 1st-2nd when cold and slightly higher rpm shift point in those gears.
Its a design feature to warm the cars parts faster
If it has changed in its feel- somethings wrong

In the future- it will help if you mention things like crud in trans on first post
