217k 99 tl trans fix

Hey hows everyone doing?Dont know if this is old news by now,or if anyone even rolls a 99 tl but just wanted to share some info since I have got SOOOO much good info from this site in the past.99tl 217k miles second trans was slipping bad at times no gears were engaging cars behind me honking etc.So I was gonna give it one last try before donating the tl I had purchased brand spankin new for my mom for mothers day of 1999.I turned in my leased A4 and mom got a lexus so I was rollin the tl for a year or so,anyways I added some transtune from the same folks that make seafoam and let it run a bit going through the gears and such. Then drained all that was drainable via the drain plug, then proceeded to cut the return trans line and start her up getting rid of much more.(first time with that)chucked an in-line filter in there and filled her back up,maybe a bit less I was thinking the filter is going to bring up the pressure a bit and it did.But when I got in and went through the gears it sounded much smoother it was way ruff before. So started driving and all was very nice actually better than ever, and so far it has been this way.Going to check the filter today prob change it but man I was so happy to have her going again after so much research and so many thoughts.Like I said just thought I would share that.Merry xmas and happy new year.

thats great! we have been needing a trans tune test pilot

Make sure your atf level is correct= per the book method
not sure on 99, my 01 requires 15 minutes freeway drive from cold
then ck level as Between the dots

hahaha i hope yall have a good new years too! acurazine is the best haha just from the site it help me with my proceed with my purchase even tho i hear the horror stories cant give up da love for the 2nd gen. ya i flushed my car about 15,000 miles after purchasing it to keep it on the safe side and to at least give it a fighting chance alot of useful information from 01tl and some others they look out for you. keep track of all the work that you do so you can keep maintenance intervals correct. a 99 with 217k thats already a goal that alot of 2 gen owners would like to accomplish!! hahaha shouldnt be hard just dont drive the dog piss outta ya rides
