2001 Overheating

Hey guys,

I have a 2001 TL with 143,000 on it and it has been a great car for me. Just in the past day or two it has been heating up to the point where the dash indicator is 3/4 the way up to the red line. It had usually never barely made it over halfway. Any ideas??? Thanks.

Did you replace the water pump at 105 with the timing belt?
Or you could have a bad fan sensor not kicking the radiator fan on
How does it look inside the radiator cap?

As long as you are not into the red, it is OK. That said, be sure your cooling system is in proper order and you should be good.

If the needle is not 1 click below halfway, have it checked out. As mentioned above, it could be a couple of things:

1) radiator fan switch (idle the car for about 15 and make sure the fan kicks on)
2) time for a fluid change
3) radiator cap going bad
4) thermostat going bad
