2000 TL 3.2 no third gear?
2000 TL 3.2 no third gear?
Recently bought an automatic 2000 TL and it had no noticeable problems aside from it very rarely slipping when shifting up to third. Significant other used it and drove it about a half mile with the foot brake on before pulling over due to it "driving weird". Upon further inspection the vehicle does NOT move in third gear almost 90% of the time now and when it does feel like it catches into third, it will move very very slowly while the RPM's nearly redline. Recently I've been attempting to circumvent the issue with third gear by using the Sport Shift to go from 2nd to 4th and no gears beside 3rd show any problems whatsoever. Haven't changed tranny fluid since purchase (a month) and my check engine light isn't on, but TCS sporadically comes on. Do I need a completely new transmission? What are my options from this point?
Thanks to anybody willing to read this in advance.

You have the problem every other 2G TL owner has experienced before. Your transmission is gone.
You need to get an AV6 transmission which is from an 06/07 Accord V6 non hybrid and have a shop do it or install it yourself. Its around 800 for the transmission and a few hundred to install it.
Find the threads regarding this swap and it will help you a lot.
You can have the transmission in the car rebuilt but it will do the same thing again down the road. The smart choice is getting a AV6.
