Yes. The 02-03 models came with either a j32a1 (what you have) or a j32a2 (type-S). You will want to get a j32a1.

There are differences between the 99's j32a1 and the 2000-2003 a1. Intake manifold is different, I believe the 99 has two sensors on the water valve next to the EGR valve, but it's possible to do. I'd make sure you'd get a service manual to understand the differences.

I know NSX-Next did an intake manifold swap on his 99, he might be able to give you some insight.

You can get any 99-03 J32A1 and make it work just fine.

Just to clarify: you originally stated that you had a '99 TL needing a new engine. Did you end up getting that '01 engine for a replacement ? If so, use Assclown's advice for ease of effort !

Hate to be a noob but how can you tell the difference in the 2 engines?

I have a 2000 3.2L TL, that i want to swap the engine and transmisson into a 99 with the aero body kit. Both cars say 3.2 TL on the back. The 2000 has a flat silver plate on top of the intake, the 99 has a shape as the intake itself.

Any help is appreciated, any engine swap links out there?

welcome.....Johnnybegoode !

Hey for the best detailed comparison of differences between the '99 and '00 & up, get an early service manual for the '99/'00. You can download this if you look around a bit.

As for the engines, there isnt much difference other than the intake flows better and different fuel rails to fit under the 99 intake. The 2000+ base TL engine will bolt up to the 4 speed trans.
