the mechanic by my house is charging me 430 to replace 2 ignition coils and a spark plug ... is this fair or is he trying to rip me off?

 

coils are about 50 bucks each at any parts store

it takes about 20 minutes to replace 2 coils,,and 3 minutes to replace a spark plug at the dead coil,,but he should be doing 2 plugs if 2 coils--note those times are generous!!

YES are being ripped off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the neighbor kid can do the same work if you are not able,,its simple

remember: you MUST reset the ecu computer for the car after new coil-
remove the CLOCK fuse for 1 minute--its on the end of dash on passenger side- open door- see plastic fuse box cover,,its a red fuse iirc but clearly marked diagram on cover

 

if you give us your city, there is probably a fellow member that will come help you out

parts: 2 coils $100, 2 spark plugs under 20 = 120...135 with max tax rate
labor: maybe 30 minutes at a very casual pace,,, and never seen a TL before!!

NOT the place for your car to be- in my opinion

Sounds like they want parts or labor for 6 coils, or 6 plugs- but only doing 1 or 2!
May have been an ~accident~ in not changing the shop `quotes computer` to 1,,from All
