1999 3.2 tl Low Beam Passenger Side HID

I have a 1999 3.2 TL that I bought new. My passenger side low beam just died. I'm trying to remove the HID cover that is held with the security torx screw. I have the screw removed and trying to remove plastic cover by turning it counter clockwise as I stand at the front of the car looking to the rear. The cover is so tight I can hardly move it maybe 1/4 inch of rotation. Any suggestions on how to get this cover to move...besides smashing it with a hammer?

was there a pink tint to the light output at startup before it died? that's bulb age death.
Otherwise you probably have what the rest of us get- moisture in the housing kills the ballast and bulb wont light or stay lit

So its off to the aftermarket for a full parts replacement kit- 60-200$ depending on where you buy
see the many low beam threads on the main section and here in problems and fixes.
its pretty easy to do

if you want to change just that bulb its going to cost you!! must use `HID` D2 (followed by a letter) bulbs

to remove that cover turn slightly and it pops off

to install the kit you pop off the cars nose and housings for the lights- work on the bench
NOTE there is a 1 arm spring retainer that holds the bulb in place! very tricky working blind on it

Thanks for reply. I was able to finally get the cover off. Replaced the D2R bulb and so far works like new.

awesome! that's a tough job with the housing on the car

If it acts up in the future- you know about how to get a kit to fix
at some point we all need it-these parts are ancient in design

TIP: it takes about 50 hours of use for the new bulbs to fully burn in - obtain max color stabilization and lumens output
Drive with the lights on all the time to get those hours in!
