07 Accord trans swap Problems
07 Accord trans swap Problems
I recently installed a 2007 Accord transmission with 28k miles on my 02 Tl-S and am having some issues. The light for N, R, D5, and D4 do not light up. When I use the ss mode the D5 and the 1 in the gear indicator comes on for a second and quickly turns off. It also makes a clunking noise when put in reverse. Any ideas on troubleshooting this?
Did you swap the range switch and the third and fourth gear pressure switch harness. Also this has happened to a few people where they forgot to connect something. Go back and check all your connections.
I checked all the connections as far as I can see they all look connected. The harnesses were left in the car when the transmission went out so I am using the original wiring harness for the switches, and I also switched out the range switch. I cleared all the codes that were on and the one that keeps coming back almost instantly is 83-1. I tried to reset the ECU for a code for the throttle but it wouldn't let me because of the VSA light.
I tested all the solenoids with the scanner and they were all activating. I was also able to see if the gear switches were on. When I put the lever in the D5 position I could drive it fine but the scanner said that the switch was off and when the D5 light comes on it reads it as being on. Is there a guide to adjusting the shifter cable?
I was able to fix the gear light issue on the dash. Turned out to be the range switch was a little off. The range switch has some play to be adjusted. Now the only code that keeps coming up is the 83-1 and an 02 sensor heater problem. I'm thinking this is because of the LF wheel speed sensor. On the scanner it had a different value than all the others and was affected by bumps on the road. Other than that the car is running great now. Shifts are smooth, even on cold mornings.
I figured the range switch was part of the problem, as for the other two I have never seen those codes so I cant help figure out whats causing them. The best bet would be to research the codes on good and usually you can come across a solution.
Range switch and if it still seems a little off just tighten up the shift linkage. After my trans swap I got an 02 code initially too, but I think this was due in part to the fact that I put 6 2 1 headers on it and that it just hadnt been run in a while. I cleared the codes and made sure I filled it up with 92 and I haven't seen it since.

It took me a while but I figured it out. I didn't know the range switch could be adjusted until I saw the old one. Now the only problem I'm having is the ABS and VSA lights that are on with the code 83-1.
