I recently did a tranny swap on my 02 tl type s and was wondering if there is a weight difference between the stock tranny and the av6 tranny? Anyone know where to find this info?

 

the stock TL trans weighs approx. 450 pounds
hard to believe they made it weigh much less or more after that

you could weigh the car and compare to known stock total weight spec

 

Trans should be almost identical in weight.

 

Are you sure it weighs that much? I figured it would weigh around 250 lbs. I am 160 lbs and I can lift the TL trans from the floor to a 4 foot high table by myself and I am not that muscular... I suppose I could weigh it myself for comparison purposes.

 

If you want to know if you are saving weight, just put it this way, the 6 speed manual is about 200 lb. lighter.

 

the 5 speed is a pig. the manual is a 1 arm carry
