'03 TL-S Headlight problem

So my driver side headlight sometimes turns on and sometimes it just refuses to turn on. Has anyone encountered this problem and if you have how'd you fix it? Thanks!

I'm assuming you're still with the stock setup... This happened to me and it was the ballast.

It is way cheaper to just get an aftermarket kit than to fix the 10 year old stock HID system piece by piece. Check out ddmtuning or HIDextra for aftermarket kits!

I checked the output on the driver balist compared to the passenger (working) side and they were the same. I picked up a ddm hid conversion kit but couldn't figure out how to install it due to having the old system still. Would i have to completely strip the old system?

Yeah you will just get rid of the old bulbs and igniters (wires attached to bulbs) and can leave the ballasts mounted to the underside of the headlight to keep the gap covered underneath it.

Hey Bonezanator, could be that the bulb was going bad on that side. Check all the connectors and components for signs of moisture or corrosion. Then ya can try swapping sides, installing a known good bulb in the problem side. Ya never know !

Yep, check the "DIY" sticky for basic installation tips. There are many other previous threads on this subject. Check out the site's sponsor vendors for great prices on aftermarket HID kits to replace your TL's old worn-out system. Less than $100 for a complete kit to replace both sides.

Yes, just remember you get what you pay for. Dont get the cheapest kit you can find and expect it to be great quality and last for ever. Some times it pays to spend a little bit more and get a known quality kit.

I recommend http://www.theretrofitsource.com/
