03 TL Gas Gauge weir problem!

As most of you 2nd Gen TL owners would have notice that usually your first half of the gauge would go slower than 2nd half, or at least that what my was. But recently my first half of the gas gauge go down really quick. Before it usually go to half around after 200-250miles, but now it already at half at around 100-120 miles but the bottom half will stay forever especially near the middle mark o.o? I usually refill my gas tank when there about 1/5 of it left and that usually 12-13 gallon worth of gas. I still get the same mpg I'm getting before (around 24-27 MPG). Does anyone know what happened? Is my gas gauge in the gas can messed up or something?

So your saying your gas mileage hasnt gone down that much just your needle is inaccurate? Probably the sending unit in the tank.

This exact same thing started happening to me about the time I had my tranny replaced - or rather, that's when I started noticing it. Since my mileage isn't affected, I'm not overly concerned with it....

I would run a can of seafoam cleaner thru 1/2 tank of gas

If there is crud buildup on the sendor that may help- and it will clean the injectors-valves and pistons so thats a plus~

I've seafoamed the tank since the tranny replacement - didn't affect the gauge at all, but the OP may have better results.

yeah i got this problem after seafoamed the gastank and the vac line. I used the whole can for half of the gas tank like you instructed 01tl04tl. I'll do it again when the 2000miles period reach to see if it clean up the stuff still got left over from the last one.

nah I think some goo got stuck on the sensor probably it will clean itself eventually. And the thing is I didn't emptied my gastank when i did it. I leave a little (2-3 gallons left) and i refilled because I worried i might ran out on my way to school/work lol. But I think it's will fix itself if i do it properly next time around. My MPG only increased not decreased so i'm not too concerned. Just wondering if anyone else has the problem as well or a small trick to fix it lol.
