'03 Passenger headlight problems
I recently purchased a 2003 Acura TL 3.2 Type-S. I seem to be having an issue with my headlights. My passenger side high and low beam will not work. Although, when the headlights are on, the high beam has a bit of light to it but when you actually turn the high beam on, the light goes away. As for the low beams I went to a store yesterday and after telling the man I need HID D2R he sold me HID D2S bulbs and said they were the same as D2R bulbs... I'm not sure if this is true but I bought them and came home, put the bulb in and it still wouldn't work. Now, I don't know if it's because it wasn't a D2R bulb or what. As for the high beams, (even though there is that little bit of light when turning the headlights on) I bought a new set of 9005 bulbs, put it in and it did the exact same thing and didn't work once turned the brights on. I do not know very much about cars and need a breakdown on what exactly I should do to diagnose this problem!
OK so we switched the driver side bulb into the passenger side socket and the bulb still didn't work and without there being a bulb in the driver side it made a shocking noise where it doesn't do that on the passenger side without the bulb in it.
Which of these would work best?
HIDEXTRA Plug and Play HID kit (Includes Relay and Capacitors) | HIDeXtra
D2R HID Light Conversion Kit | HIDeXtra
Whats the difference between plug and play and not plug and play?

For your problem here, your test may need to be conducted in this way:
1. Passenger|New bulb Driver|Old Driver Side Bulb
This should tell you if the new bulb fix the problem
2. Passenger|Old Driver Side Bulb Driver|Old Passenger Side Bulb
This should tell you if the old bulb is broken and also confirm if replace the blub can fix the problem
3. Passenger|Old Passenger Side Bulb Driver|New bulb
This should tell you if the new bulb works on you car
Because the unbalance of the load may causing defect in the control unit, I won't suggest test with only one bulb.
If you found that the problem is not about the bulb, your probably need to see more about the circuit of the whole headlight system. Or you can just ask another auto shop~ Good Luck
