02' TL-S P0505 "idle air control system" error

My 2002 TL-type S is having some idle issues. It's idling and running rough and the RPM's are intermittently shooting up and down when idling. I scanned it and got a PO505 idle air control system error. It's also stalled on my at random when I'm driving at less than 15 mph or sitting at a stop sign. No idea how to handle this, any thoughts? Thanks a million!!!!

most likely it is your idle control valve. take it out and clean it with a small toothbrush. clean your egr port while you're at it. if it still has the same problems, you will probably have to change the IACV.

Take the Idle Air Control valve off the bottom of the Throttle Body and clean it. If that doesnt work you may need a new one

It's on the bottom side of the throttle body

If you can't locate the bottom of the throttle body, you may want to reconsider

Here's the bottom of the whole intake manifold/throttle body assembly. Since it's upside down, the IACV is on the top of the throttle body here. One end of the looped hose is on the IACV and one is on the throttle body.

It's pretty darn hard to get to, though.. at least for me it always has been. Use a stubby screwdriver to fit in there while everything is still connected.

solved my problem...was easy once confirmed, although it was not really an iacv issue.

I'd say to also check out/clean your PCV valve

i installed the p2r spacer for the tl-p and the new tb bolts they provided were too short to accommodate the p2r spacer and stock spacer. long story short, it was jimmy-rigged based on bad advice i received. now all is well as i now have the correct bolts, spacer, and stock spacer in the correct order.
