Hi Everyone...new to the group...need advice

My TL :
01 TL with 77000 miles
Brought from a private party when 60000 miles
The party had recd a letter regarding the transmission issue and I think my TL is covered.

My Problem:
A few weeks ago, my CEL and TCS when ON.
After a couple of weeks CEL went off..
Transmission started behaving weirdly liek HIGH RPM's and slippage during 1st and 2nd shifts.

I got the free CEL from Aamco and it came out:
P0740 Torque converter clutch.
P167 No Signal on ECM Data Line.

MY Q's
1. Any ideas about th above codes ?
2. How do I go about fixing the trans issue (I am not sure but is this THE TRANS ISSUE ?
3. Any other free places where I can get the CEL codes

Just bring it to the dealer. If its slipping like that bring it in and they will replace it

 

And bring it to the dearler ASAP ... you don't want to have your transmission acts up and
breaks down when you're on the freeway with speed .....

 

So I just take it to the dealer and ask him to tak a look ..
I did not buy the car from the dealear .....I brought it from a private party.

Won't the dealer charge me ?

I live in bay area...howz Sunnyvale Acura ? Any suggestion

Not if you tell them the tranny is acting up they know there have been problems with them and wont charge you for it.

 

Help me understand. Why would you drive for a 'couple of weeks' with the CEL light on and not have it checked?

Any auto store, such as AutoZone, can read the codes.

Your car is covered. Dozens of threads on this. Doesn't matter where/how you bought the car, as long as it doesn't have a salvage title.

 

doesnt matter if your the 4th owner. there is a warranty extension on the TL that goes 7year or 100k
