Yeedatoy's progress thread

So I picked up my WDP 99 TL-P in 2009 after my insurance check came in from when my Integra was stolen. Some inbred piece of shit named Pat Hinson stole the car the morning of my birthday, it was a fairly aesthetically modded car but it had a salvage title and a bit of frame damage...I received 5 grand for it somehow.

I spotted a TL for $5500 and it dropped to $4500 a day later, I went and put a deposit down and drove it home a few days later. It was a fleet vehicle according to Autocheck and it appeared to be maintained meticulously, it had 182k on it but a newer Acura blue bolt transmission. This is how it looked nice and stock

I hated the ACURA written across the back so it had to go..the end result

I didn't begin to really mod the car until a few months back, I picked up some Tokico HP struts for $75 and some Tein S-techs but decided not to put them on and keep the car stock. I put them on sale for unbelievably cheap on here and none of you numbnuts bought them. I got tired of looking at them so I said fuck it and stuck em on...thats when the mod bug crawled back out. I found some Type-s wheels for $200 and slapped them on to get rid of the crappy stockies.

I began checking out all of the Inspire parts on Ebay and found some authentic Inspire headlights with the built in city lights. They also came with ballasts and bulbs and were blacked out so I picked em up. I still have not hooked the city lights up but may get to it soon. I also painted the Acura emblem red

Somehow while surfing Craigslist, I came across a NBP lip kit with a Wings West flush mount spoiler. This is pretty damn uncommon around here, and to make it even more crazy the guy only wanted $300 for everything. I raced out the door and grabbed it....the seller was an awesome dude, handed me $20 back. I slapped it on in the pouring rain and plastidipped my grill black. I decided to try to make the car work with the black kit but its going to take some planning. The spoiler remains off.

I got tired of the red a so today I bought some more plastidip(stuff is incredible). Here is how it came out.

I have the Tsudo axlebacks on the way after 3 months of bullshit from the company, and my AC Autotechnic CAI arrives tomorrow. I am blacking out the rear "A" as I type and am in the market for all black wheels. I will black out the chrome window trim and tint the windows come tax season, but as the car sits currently I have only put $1000 into it.

Thanks and nope, I found out who he was through the cops. He was part of a huge Gastonia theft ring consisting of multiple chop shops etc. These guys were stealing hundreds of Hondas using universal keys and ECU jumper harnesses. They would hook OBD1 ECUS up to immobilized cars and steal them...even jack cars up on rollers and roll them out of car lots. s2ks, ITR's...even RSX's using ECUs tuned with KPRO with disabled immobilizers. All these guys we 16-22. I can't wait to see him and crush his face.

Me too, but at least they bought me a TL! Downside was it took months to get the money so I had to ride my old Honda Ruckus scooter all winter.

Pics of ruckus. Love those. And great pickup on the lipkit, 300 for all of that stuff is quite the steal.

That sucks big time about the theft. Not a fan of the black grille and lip kit, but wow what a deal you got on that shit!

Not bad. Feel your pain someone kicked in my apartments front door and stole my hookah and my laptop. Although that's not quite on the level of a car

Thanks guys, I'm on a budget so I have to hunt for deals. The Ruckus I just sold because people steal shit around here too much and I was always paranoid and got tired of my living room smelling like gas. I also was pretty irresponsible when it came to putting money into it. I swapped the motor for a 150 and tuned the hell out of it until i pulled 70mph out of it. It was actually my daily ride to work from NC to SC year round until I decided I had too much into it to ride it in bad weather. It destroyed me to sell it though, Its great to park next to $400,000 cars and people walk right past them to look at a scooter.

Put this on in the dark today...have to go back in and mount the bracket, arrange some hoses and cut them to length. I had to ghetto rig it because the flashlight on my phone killed the battery and I don't own a flashlight!

Tsudos on

Got the Tsudos and stuck em on...nice quality, welds aren't fantastic but they're good enough. The fuckers are nice and shiny and larger then they appear in pics. After using my jack handle as a 3 foot breaker bar I managed to get the old mufflers off. One Tsudo went on easy as shit and the other was a bitch. They are aligned pretty good, one just sits a hair lower which I will fix when I dont feel like shit. Snapped some pics when I went to the grocery store to get a better shot of how the grille looks in person........unfortunately it was hard to tell on my phone that the pics I took of the exhaust were shit until I made it home. Heres a few update shots.

Thanks, theres times I love it and times I question it. It really depends on the lighting I'm in. I think when i get some wheels and some coilovers it wont bother me anymore. I originally wanted all black wheels, but have found myself looking at some bronze rims as well. What do you guys think a good wheel color would be? I can't drop too much on them so I've been looking at XXRs and Drag wheels. I need to find something lightweight. I found a new type of after market tails on Ebay that are like the 02-03 tail but the top half is lightly smoked. They are manufactured that way so theres no chance of fade.

I'm completely against black wheels. I hate them. They never photograph well. But if you go with bronze or any other color like that, you should probably paint the kit WDP. Tri-tone doesn't look good.

Found a fellow AZiner who traded in his TL selling a Progress rear sway from his 3g on Craigslist. He did a broke man a favor and sold it to me with hardware for $65. He even threw in some new valve cover gaskets that he didn't use to help me out. My rear one is leaking a little. Can't wait to pick up some fresh Moog end links and slap it on!

Any more pics of the axle back? Car looks good, I think the black emblem throws off the front grill. Maybe take it back to chrome?

Thanks, I just put a shorter rubber hanger on the right side to raise it 1/4 inch to make it even with the left. I'm going to take some better shots of it this weekend when the weather clears up. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the grill yet..it's probably going to change a million times. The car is too high, needs wheels and the windows being without tint is bugging the crap out of me, but all my money is going towards other peoples Christmas gifts and my son's birthday that falls 6 days before hand!

Hey fellow North Caroliner......did you sand the grill before you applied the plasti dip?

Also, where did you get the rims and tires.

Thanks and clean ride.

Whats up!? I lightly sanded the chrome trim and rubbed it down with alcohol. I dont think it's necessary from what I heard but it only took a second. plastidip hold up great, dries quickly and you can be pretty reckless with it and have it turn out well. The wheels I got on Craigslist. Check daily and you'll find great stuff, for example there were just a set of perfect TSX wheels for $200 and a set of 08 civic SI wheels that fit out TL's for $250, and the 18 inch accord wheels with tires for $325!

I broke my left vent today putting in my clock bulb so I ordered a carbon fiber license plate surround to ease the burn of the $45 I forked out for a whole new panel, climate control and sunroof/TCS switches. What do you guys think of this emblem to match? The idea is to have the carbon plate and emblem in the rear with lightly smoked 03 tails and get a carbon hood eventually to match the carbon accents. I think it will look good once I slam the car in a few months but I can't decide. I don't want to waste $22 on a emblem and decide not to use it. Here is the rear now, and the emblem I'm eying.
