Take EXTRA care with the studs and nuts and bolts to ensure that they don't fall into the block. If they fall in and slide down, you are F'ed.

Cool pictures Jason. Good for any guys looking into the spacers. They definitely help a little. TL-power.

Well, I'm "done". Started the car... Idles @ 2k rpm. I assume this just means the throttle cable needs to be adjusted? I guess I have to play with it?

^Nah, it's the throttle cable. It needs to be adjusted just right. I got it down to 700rpm @ first idle...

When I brake, the last few feet, it revs up like 150rpm, just enough to give a little jump forward.

When I parked it after a long drive and adjusting the cable a few times during the drive, it idled back at 1200rpm.

Not quite sure what's up other than the throttle is open just a weeee bit. I'm probably just gonna take it to my local shop and have them adjust it in 5 minutes rather than me tinker with it.

But WOW. I can def feel the extra kick. It's quite prevelant from 15-60mph acceleration. Those low RPM's def got a boost.

I would have loved seeing pictures like this before I did mine... just so I could know what to expect.

I did the same thing yesterday minus the spacer install and am having the same issue with the 2000 rpm idle. It's only in park though. In d or ss, it idles at 1k? From what i've read it could also be the idle air control valve, which is part of the throttle body. Did you remove your throttle cables?

Nice pics too.. i agree that it is scary as hell looking at your engine like that.. and then starting it up hoping that you didnt miss any coolant lines..

How often do you guys clean out your throttle body and egr? I did mine a few monthes ago and was wondering if I should do it again tomorrow or not. I'm just wondering what time frame you guys wait to do it.

The throttle cable should have a small amount of play, the car should idle normal at 700 with the cable loose. Was the IAC cleaned while the TB was off- its under a cover on the bottom of TB

I think there is a connector that can get confused with another and that will make it run bad
see this thread for good tips

WD- if you removed the intake manifold and cleaned the ports for the EGR you should be good another 70-100k miles
Use of Seafoam cuts down on carbon buildup in the intake system,
there is nothing you can do that prevents egr buildup

Throttle body- If you sprayed into it while on the car and followed the directions about- with the throttle plate closed or open, repeat a 2nd time to get everything really well.
While not required- I reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery- clean the cables and terminals and put back together
You can also pull the clock backup fuse and that is power to the ECU

Ok.

I started the car this morning. Idled @ 700rpm in P, N, and D. Drove fine few a few blocks. Got some breakfast, left the car running. Drove for about 5 minutes and got on the highway. At which point the check engine light and the TCS light came on. Why?

I haven't since restarted the car to see if they come back.

Nice write up Jason Sucks that when you do a DIY, it never corporates 100% (at least in my experiences haha.. if you remember my ksport installation lol).

You shouldnt have had to adjust the cable. If you are experiencing a idle issue you need to recheck the bolts, hoses and gaskets. It sounds as though you have a vacuum leak

the TB spacerblock changes the distance so the cables need to be readjusted slightly.
Sort of like the engine cover needs a little bit of dremel to fit over the TB now, so I left the cover off for improved cooling.
I would lube the cables while its all apart too.

If you have a vac leak- what was the condition of the base gasket that gets reused- and the spacer had its proper gaskets? and nothing is overtight??

^^^ See below. No more idle issues (knock on wood)

Only issue is CEL and TCS lit up.

your problem sounds like a vacuum leak as it's been mentionned.
