new to the place

hey guys i'm new to the place just wanted to get acquainted with everyone

i have a 00' TL-P. i purchased it in august of '06 with 115k miles, i got it for just under $10k. i can't complain for that price for such a great car.

i had this stainless steel filter on my 99 mitsubishi galant before it was totaled. i love this filter. i've looked for piping to make this a short ram on the TL, but i looked at the shape of the throttle body and it looked a lil ovular??

and i guess i'm having the same problem everyone else is with their mirror.

DUDE, get rid of that mirror ASAP! Before it spills and ruins that interior. Don't get short ram, its not preferred. BTW, welcome and let the MODDING begin!

Always use the search feature too!

i'm in a city surrounded by water, it floods very often, i prefer not to do cold air mainly for fear of hydro lock. i have no mods done to it but i did put on new shoes last month bfgoodrich traction t/as (very nice) and i do plan on doing a 2" drop or so within the month. i'm excited. believe me, i read that whole long post about the mirror, i will get on emailing magna donnelly.

within the next month or so i'm going to install a new suspension, i haven't had much time since i had duty this weekend. i'm thinking of going kyb gr-2's (i had them on my galant and loved them) but i'm not sure on the lowering springs, i at least want to do a 1.7'' to 2'' drop. i'm not really looking for anything expensive as i use this as a daily driver and i'm not into "performance tuning". that's for AFTER i get out of the navy

AEM v2 isnt a true long-piped CAI and comes with a filter tha's basically the same as your stainless one anyways... its not like one filter vs/ another adds loads of HP

Woot, another FPR.

If I was you, I would not use that filter. The metal filters are probably the worst at filtering, and will suck up more debris. I believe the metal filters are made for temporary use only on the track, not for long term use. Get a K&N or AEM Dry Flow.

haha

if i'm correct, don't we have the same suspension setup as an accord? so theorectically these would fit...

i'm just trying to have the same setup as i did on my last car, and i had kyb gr-2s on megan lowering springs and i loved it.

i highly suggest H&R sports for springs, but if youre looking for adjustable, im not the one to ask for that.

also, if you REALLY wanted to go full CAI, there is a bypass valve available to prevent hydrolock. Otherwise, stick with the short ram. it sounds louder, probably has the exact same gains, and its a little cheaper if you want to save a little. i have one and i love it.

Good Luck!

but around dc-md-va theres really no need for the bypass valve. tons of us are fine without
